The field of instructional systems technology (IST) prides itself on being an eclectic field, Dewey' s proverbial " linking science"
between theories of the behavioral and cognitive sciences and instructional practice.

DETT 607: Instructional Design and Course Development in Distance Education and
E-learning
This learning experience was phenomenal! I developed an online course in the Webtycho learning environment (DETT 607), the combination of theory and practice integrated in course curriculum, design, and structure. The various philosophical approaches to instructional systems were mixed with techniques from different theoretical perspectives, and experts. These included learning theory of the behaviorist, constructivist, and connectivism, the latter signifying the digital era, and Web 2.0. This experience was very beneficial in my use of Blackboard where I facilitate blended learning in the new student freshman seminar. I have also integrated the systems view to learning as I shared my format and content with the students in my classes, and others in academe.
